Chasing the Northern Express
August 18-21, 2001

Jim Clay tracked down The Northern Express on the evening of Saturday, August 18, and shares the following photos and commentary:

I took these Saturday night around 6:00 PM when the Northen Express arrived in Harrisburg.

This is my favorite!

I'm not sure who these people are, perhaps you know. If you suspect there may be issues with publishing these people's picture without their permission please do not share this photo on KC. You're probably more in tune with what's allowable in this area than I am. You might even send the photo to Mr Levin and ask his permission if you're so inclined.

These two private cars came in from Chicago Friday night and laid over in Harrisburg connecting with the Northern Express on it's arrival on Saturday. I heard some talk that there were problems with the domed observation car (i.e. height restrictions between Harrisburg and Philly) and that's why these cars didn't make the trip to Philly. Maybe someone on PRR-Talk could confirm this.

Drumhead for the car shown in Photo #5.
