GHQ PRR L1s Conversion

The Keystone Article by Max Magliaro

After some discussion in another thread [on the Atlas N Scale Forum], here are the pages of an article I wrote for the Pennsylvania Railroad Technical and Historical Society's "Keystone" magazine back in the Summer of 1998.

This article is a review, plus assembly tips, for the GHQ PRR L1s conversion kit. GHQ has announced that they will be reissuing this kit soon. It is a complete set of pewter and brass replacement parts to be placed on a Kato Mikado chassis to make it into a proper PRR 2-8-2 L1s. It is a kit intended for an experienced craftsman.

The issue is out of print, and they (editor Chuck Blardone) have graciously agreed to allow me to post these pages here. But be aware that this is through the courtesy of the PRRT&HS, so please do not abuse this by reprinting, selling, or otherwise taking advantage of their kindness.

There are only 3 pages. Each one is embedded right in here in a low-res 72 dpi form, along with a link to the 300 dpi hi-res version of each picture. The 300 dpi files are 1.5 - 2.0 MBytes each, so they will take time to download on a 56k modem, but it could be done if you can wait 10 minutes or so for each one.

You will find that the 300 dpi files print out nicely, and can be enlarged on your screen a great deal and still preserve their sharpness. The 72 dpi definitely do not. I included them here just so you can quickly see what the pages look like.
