Weirton Jct. East, West Virginia

The picture to the right shows a westbound freight, #105 PT/MJ, that is moving slowly through Weirton Jct., West Virginia. On the head end is an AB set of Alco FA's. This freight began in Pittsburgh and will end at Mingo Jct., Ohio, around 4:00 p.m. The bridges carry the Yellow Creek branch of the W&LE.

The Consolidation, #9967, is switching cars for Weirton Power located along the Ohio River. The foreground track is the siding where a B&O hopper has just been set out. The Pennsylvania Railroad built and owned 106 of the H8 classification of this engine. They were used for all types of service including some local passenger trains. Most of their time was spent in yards or on local freight schedules.

It is a busy day at Weirton Jct., West Virginia. The Consolidation is ready to depart, but is waiting for track clearance as an Alco RS1 road switcher picks up a string of freight cars bound for Mid Point Yard.
