Downtown, Mingo Junction, Ohio

A Wheeling and Lake Erie 0-8-0 USRA switcher is sitting on the Powhatton cutoff track. The W&LE connects with the PRR in Mingo Jct., Ohio.
An aerial view of Mingo Junction, Ohio. This photo was taken from the east. The St. Clair Avenue bridge is in the foreground and the westbound main is the track with the Pennsy E units. The railroad bridge in the background is the Baltimore & Ohio and Mid Point Yard is just to the left. The Ohio River is southeast of this photo.

The photo to the left shows St. Clair Avenue in downtown Mingo Jct., Ohio. This street runs parallel with the tracks just to the lower left. The photo above shows a PRR 2-8-2 Mikado L1s Class steam engine across from the main station. Pennsy engines were unique because of their Belpaire boiler design which is squared off. The majority of the 574 Class L1s steam engines on the Pennsy were built in their own Juniata shops in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
