Photographs by Jerry Britton

Over the course of 1999-2000, Ken McCorry put a 24' by 32' addition on to his layout. The construction photos were taken in March, 2000.

7. The main level is the Harrisburg freight yards. At the far end, and extending to the right, is the location of the passenger station. The level below Harrisburg is staging representing points east of Harrisburg. The track at Harrisburg's level, but hugging the wall, is the Bald Eagle Branch. The high line around the perimeter of the room is the new Keating Summit line to Buffalo.

8. The model board for STATE Tower takes shape.

9. These next two photos show the excellent multi-track swing gate Ken designed. This allows operators easier access through the staging level below Harrisburg for maintenance.

10. I believe the success of this design is due to two factors. First, the meeting edge of the non-hinged end is not perpendicular to the track. It is set at about a 60-degree angle. Second, the "piano" hinge supporting the swing end is much more rigid than would be several "traditional" hinges. Kudos to Ken!
